Public Finance and Economic Development

Our public finance lawyers have extensive experience advising and representing state agencies, counties, cities, school boards, and special districts, underwriters, financial advisors, remarketing agents, banks, mutual funds, and other institutional investors, nonprofit and for-profit conduit borrowers, letter of credit issuers and other credit enhancement providers, and indenture trustees, in connection with both traditional and more innovative, both tax-exempt and taxable, public finance transactions. During the past decade we have rendered approving bond counsel opinions for more than 300 state and local government bond issues in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana aggregating more than $8 billion. Wyatt is included as a nationally recognized bond counsel firm in The Bond Buyer's Municipal Marketplace (the "Red Book") and regularly appears in The Bond Buyer's annual ranking of the top-five bond counsel firms in Kentucky.

As part of a full-service, multidisciplinary law firm, our public finance lawyers and paralegals work closely with the Firm's other practice groups specializing in corporate and securities law, real estate, construction, and land use law, environmental law, health care law, bankruptcy and creditors' rights law, and tax law. Using a team approach, Wyatt's public finance practice group has the resources, expertise, and depth and breadth of experience to guide our clients successfully and cost effectively over and through the constantly changing legal and financial hurdles of public finance transactions from the simplest to the most complex.
